Troop 93 Fish Fry Fundraiser

Clarence Troop 93 is running a Krolick’s fish fry fundraiser on Good Friday (4/2) to aid scouts in attending a once in a lifetime camping experience(Philmont). The fundraiser will be held in the parking lot of the Clarence United Methodist Church (across from the Middle School). We will be pre-selling dinners for pick up between 4-6:30. Please approach from Main Street towards the Strickler Road entrance when you come to pick up your order.

Dinners will be presale only. Pre-sale orders can be made through any Troop 93 scout for $14 or you may purchase them online for $15.

Philmont is a Scouts BSA high adventure base in New Mexico. We are going on a 12 day hiking trek in 2022. This trip is often the pinnacle of a scout’s career. It teaches leadership, teamwork and puts into action all of the skills that a scout has learned to date in their career.

Hunter’s Creek Hike

Hello Troop 93,

We will be having our hike at Hunter’s Creek in East Aurora. We will be parking at the park’s Lower Parking and be starting our hike at 10:00 am. It should take 4-5 hours but it could be less or more time based on other factors. Please be early, dress for the weather, bring lunch, and bring a good amount of water. We might not finish the whole course but we will definitely get the 1 mile orienteering requirement done with the younger scouts. The parking is off of Hunter’s Creek Road just south of the Strykersville and Hunter’s Creek Road intersection. The lot on google maps is called, “Hunters Creek Lower Parking” and it is a 35 minute drive away.
Yours In Scouting,
Karl Guenther

How to Earn a Merit Badge

Earning merit badges should be Scout initiated, Scout researched, and Scout learned. It should be hands-on and interactive, and should not be modeled after a typical school classroom setting. Instead, it is meant to be an active program so enticing to young men that they will want to take responsibility for their own full participation.

The recommended process for earning merit badges

  1. The Scout develops an interest in a merit badge and may begin working on the requirements.
  2. The Scout discusses his interest in the merit badge with his unit leader.
  3. The unit leader signs a blue card and provides the Scout with at least one counselor contact.
  4. The Scout contacts the counselor.
  5. The counselor considers any work toward requirements completed prior to the initial discussion with the unit leader.
  6. The Scout, his buddy and the counselor meet (often several times).
  7. The Scout finishes the requirements.
  8. The counselor approves completion.
  9. The Scout returns the signed blue card to his unit leader, who signs the applicant record section of the blue card.
  10. The unit leader gives the Scout the applicant record.
  11. The unit reports the merit badge to the council.
  12. The Scout receives his merit badge.
